Watching the Grammys last night was an incredible display of art—art that is a part of the fabric of our society, but simply wouldn’t exist without the people creating it.

These songs and these performances simply wouldn’t exist without each person involved stepping into their gifts, their alignment, and through fears - like that they might never even be at the Grammys.

I sat there watching Doechii’s performance, unusually present to the fact that no one else in the entire world could have created that performance. It was so purely her—her alignment, her embodiment, and her lived experience. And in that, it was as if the message was being sent to all of us: “Do the thing that wouldn’t exist in the world if you weren’t here.”

I think we talk about this idea in many different ways—your passion, your purpose, your zone of genius—but so often, these things seem to focus on external elements. Almost as though we take the options that feel available to us and try to fit them onto and into our…
